Manage products and their barcodes

Create, edit and find products; attach a barcode for scanning.

Presentation

Products are the basis of stock and sales. Each product has a price, a quantity and can carry a barcode that makes it instantly scannable.

Access

From the inventory view ("Manage stock") or the Products screen. Scanning an unknown code there opens creation directly, with the code pre-filled.

Interface

  • Search and filters (low stock / out of stock): Find a product or target alerts.
  • Create / Edit a product: Name, price, quantity, category, barcode, thresholds, expiry.
  • Scan (scanner gun / camera): Known scan: opens the record. Unknown scan: opens creation with the code pre-filled.

Step-by-step procedure

  1. Action: Open the Products screen. To create, tap "+" (or scan an unknown code). Result: The product form opens (code pre-filled if scanned).
  2. Action: Fill in name, price, quantity, category and, if possible, the barcode; save. Result: The product is created and becomes scannable if it has a barcode. Check: Scan the product to verify it is recognized.

Examples

[simple] Create a product by scanning it: On the Products screen, you scan a new item: the form opens with the code pre-filled, you enter name and price, you confirm.

Edge cases

A product created without a barcode will not be scannable until you attach one.

Tips

  • Set the alert thresholds (low stock) at creation: the dashboard will warn you automatically.
